Preventative dentistry forms the bedrock of our care here at The Dentistry. As a minimally invasive practice, our main aim is always to provide our patients with oral care that reduces the need for intervention wherever possible.
In simple terms, preventative dentistry is the regular dental examinations and dental hygiene appointments we provide for our patients. This is where we can assess your current oral health and detect any issues in the early stages. We’ll also provide treatments to help prevent problems such as tooth decay from forming.
We perform mouth cancer screenings at every dental examination, for example, and our dental hygienists will check for the early signs of gum disease. Regular cleaning treatments such as jet polishing also help with the removal of plaque and tartar which, if left untreated, can help contribute to tooth decay.
Our team can help build at-home care routines designed around your own needs and oral health history. We recommend brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste for two minutes and flossing regularly to all our patients, but there are some patients with more specific needs whom we are able to help. In some cases, our dental team or dental hygienists may also make lifestyle recommendations which will help care for your teeth and oral health.
